About
The inspiration for this website came about through my personal experiences whilst living in Asia for the past two decades. During this time and in my travels I have spent countless hours watching sunsets in Bali, Lombok, Phuket, Koh Samui and elsewhere being enthralled by the antics and observing the coexistence of "Mans's best friend" along side an assortment of locals and tourists alike.
Yet as uplifting as it is to observe these playful four legged friends, it is equally distressing, as many of the dogs are not well cared for, they are often undernourished and sometimes in quite poor health, and as charming as they can be, they often pose a health and safety risk for the people living and holidaying in places where they are unvaccinated and left to breed uncontrollably.
The purpose of this site is two fold.
1. To raise awareness of their situation by showcasing the colourful, playful, charming nature of these beautiful creatures.
2. To raise funds to sponsor stray dog vaccination, neutering and adoption programs in the Asian Islands where they are most troubled.
In relation to raising funds we intend to create a gallery where we invite people to contribute their own photos of Street Dogs in situ, and enable visitors to the site to upvote their favourite images. Then every year we will collate a collection of the most loved images and publish a hard copy coffee table book which will be made available for sale through our site and in bookstores.
In addition to this visitors will be able to select their favourite photos and order merchandise like coffee cups, T-shirts or calendars for their own personal collection. And finally we will accept donations via gofundme.com and directly on this site.
Use of funds...
The funds raised will be used in the following ways:
- A small portion will be used to fund the ongoing development and promotion of this site. (Volunteers welcome)
- Additional funds will be used to coordinate the publishing, printing and distribution of the books, merchandise and items for sale.
- The vast bulk of funds raised will be used to directly sponsor the organisations which currently provide vaccination, neutering and adoption programs in the areas where these problems exist.
- Once we launch and in the interests of full transparency all the costs, expenses & the amount of money raised will be regularly published on this website & available for all to view.
Thank You . . .
I hope you enjoy the images of the Woofers on this site and if you're able to contribute in anyway thank you, and if not. perhaps share it with your friends and family.
